James and Vinay are the founders of Framework. We built and ran a company before AI, and then used AI to accelerate it. We see an opportunity to do the same with other uniquely positioned assets.
We built it the unglamorous way, before AI could do any of it for us. Command AI (originally CommandBar, before AI) started in 2020 as ordinary B2B software sold customer support to product and engineering teams. We wrote all the code by hand.
We are mind-blown by how much faster you can build with AI. A lot of teams see AI as an opportunity to do more with less. We just care about doing more. Building product, finding new customers, delighting existing ones. The bar for excellent is so much higher today than it was when we got started in 2020.
Co-founder
James was CEO of Command AI and led it through to the Amplitude acquisition in 2024. At Amplitude he led AI and all new products. Before Framework, he was a visiting partner at Y Combinator.
From the Bay Area. He went to Princeton and studied computer science, where he met two very important people -- his wife Gabriela, and Vinay. He lives in San Francisco with Gabriela and their daughter.
Co-founder
Vinay co-founded Command AI and served as CTO, architecting the first version of the product to an enterprise platform running millions of active users. When James says "we wrote the code by hand", he means "mostly Vinay wrote the code by hand". He became an engineering director at Amplitude after the acquisition.
From New Jersey, he studied computer science at Princeton, where he met James. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, and near his goddaughter (James's daughter).
